Morelia in MichoacanMorelia Named after Morelos a founding father of modern Mexico.  In the colonial times, Michoacan (State) capital, was home to wealthy Spanish who sponsored the construction of several private building.  Today Morelia´s city center is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site consiting of more than 220 pink limestone buildings.   Visitors will feel in an old European capital as they enjoy a hot coffee under the city arches overlooking the magnificent cathedral.  Shops at markets are known for their variety of handicrats from the nearby villages.
